Held in January 2005, RE:ST/ART was ST/ART’s first full group exhibition and was entirely self-sponsored, self-funded and took place at the old China Stylus studio space in Central, HK featuring some 100 works by 15 artists.
The idea was to welcome the new year with a positive message and some positive action. It was about renewing, refreshing and recycling... Each exhibit was painted on, and created with, only items and “canvases” found discarded on the city’s street, breathing new life and colour into the unwanted and dismissed.
Contributing artists included: Graphic Airlines, C#, Start From Zero, KS1, Katol, Ping, Redy, Big Mad, Pui Pui, *COM and then new members of the ST/ART collective – ESP Crew.
Despite a bit of winter rain, the opening night party was a massive success and featured Djs Pelmet (Robot) and Bodhi (Uncut Dope) as well as live demos and a whole lotta beer.
